Gatsby Fever

We are quietly congratulating ourselves on being one step ahead of the Great Gatsby fever that’s set to grip the nation on the release of Baz Luhrmann’s latest film adaptation, with the launch of our Portrait Collection of opulent, old Hollywood-inspired furnishing fabrics.

The 20s inspired costumes in the film, by Baz’s wife Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada are to die for, with acres of silk, feathers, beading, metallic and sparkle in sensuous nude tones, dusky pinks and shades of blue from aqua through to midnight.  Not to mention the lavish Long Island interiors painstakingly recreated, again by Catherine, in Baz’s native Australia.

The Portrait Collection is our most glamorous to date, with fabrics that are crying out to be touched and draped around the body.  The designs are influenced by everything that made the 20s and 30s so special – the stars, the photography, the interiors and the exceptional gowns created by costume designers such as Edith Head and Adrian.

Our signature palette of warm greys and charcoals has been enhanced with the addition of some sensuous nude tones and a sophisticated navy.  Lushly textured weaves, jacquard and soft metallic yarns provide added richness and grandeur.

Gatsby glamour can be added to bedrooms and living rooms with floor to ceiling curtains in heavy cotton moire and generous amounts of textured and sparkly cushions.  Fine Egyptian sheets finished in a soft sateen sheen add the necessary touch of luxury to beds and bathrooms.  And you can never have too much crystal and glass – in chandeliers, wall and table lamps, tableware and mirrored dressing tables and vanity units.
